Brock Creek Ranch

About this farm

Brock Creek Ranch is located in the mountains of Southwestern Montana. Our property is totally off-the-grid, 12 miles from pavement and bordered by public lands, meaning there is no one up-wind or up-the-road from us. The isolation may be tough for some, but we love it. Our ranch employs natural rearing methods to raise Icelandic Sheep, Angora Goats, Brahma and Delaware chickens, Chocolate Turkeys and draft horses. We believe that our animals should live in a natural environment and have plenty of room to roam, access to mountain grasses, spring and creek water, fresh air and sunshine. We do minimal vaccines/worming and our stock are never given steroids, hormones or prophylactic antibiotics. We let our mamas wean their young naturally, and we do not de-horn, dock or brand. Our poultry is pasture-reared, ranging freely during the daylight hours. We utilize livestock guardian dogs for predator control; the poultry have two Great Pyrenees guardians and the sheep and goats live with three more Pyrenees, a Maremma and a Kuvoz. We raise all natural Icelandic lamb, grass fed, no hormones, or artificial additives. Icelandic sheep are a mountain breed, which historically have been milder in flavor and leaner than lowland sheep breeds. Their meat is very tender with a sweeter flavor, and is considered a gourmet meat. We sell lambs to finish @ $2.50/lb on the hoof, or freezer lambs for September/October delivery. Whole lamb only, $4.50/lb hanging weight plus processing. Average hanging weight 35–50 pounds. In addition to our finishing and whole lamb we offer select cuts—buy only what you want!
