Glacier View Farm, Ltd. owner Roxie Schade has been farming in Homer, Alaska for the past 40 years. She started raising cattle using rotational grazing in 1988 under the guidance of Gallagher Fence Company of New Zealand—experts in pasture-based systems. “This has made it possible for us to increase good quality pasture from 3 months to over 6 months a year. The cool, moist summers keep the grass growing, and with 24-hour daylight, we have excellent feed.” The beef animals are on pasture and no other feed when slaughtered. They are sold on the farm by live weight and processed by the buyer under the direction of farm personnel.
