About this farm

Laurel Ridge Farm sells Laurel Ridge Grass Fed Beef which is produced from its own herd of Angus and Angus/Devon cows. Our beef is grown on the pastures of our 700 acre farm in Litchfield, CT. Our cows are fed only fresh grass or hay and kelp (for the trace minerals a cow needs). We use no antibiotics or growth hormones, and our cows are finished on grass or hay only. We produce our own hay from our land to feed our cows when the pastures are resting. Our beef is slaughtered and butchered locally under USDA supervision, and dry-aged for a minimum of 2 weeks. Unlike what you will likely find at the local grocery store, our meat has a grand total of 45 ‘food miles’ on it—the distance from our farm to the slaughter facility, then back to our farm. Depending on the time of year, we may sell whole, half, or quarter cows, and we are happy to work with cowpoolers. We sell a variety of cuts depending upon the time of year. We retail the beef from our farm stand, which is located in the Windmill at 66 Wigwam Road in Litchfield. We are open Sundays from 12 to 2pm. We also sell our beef through New Morning Natural and Organic in Woodbury, CT. We are at the Litchfield Farmer’s Market which is open on Saturdays from 10-1.
