About this farm

Lone Pine Ranch, located in the beautiful Okanagan high country between Okanagan and Kalamalka lakes, is a small family ranch covering 680 acres of the Upper Commonage grasslands. We raise beef cattle, broiler chickens and laying hens for egg production. We use low stress, humane handling methods with all of our farm animals. Our mission is to ethically produce a quality food source option for health-conscious customers in our local greater Vernon area. Scottish Highland and Highland-cross cattle are managed to enhance our ecosystem and are fed and finished using sustainable cell-grazing principles on native pasture grasses. We grow our own hay using no pesticides and no chemical fertilizers. Cattle are raised without grain, hormones, steroids, chemical de-wormers or antibiotics. Heritage breed laying hens and broiler chickens are raised with daily access to the outdoors; sunshine, fresh air, and grass. We utilize a combination of “chicken tractors” and electric netting to protect our free range poultry from predators.
